FARM STEW Teams

Our teams work together in their regions to bring the FARM STEW message to rural families.

With a Masters in Global Community Development, Bernard worked in Africa on many short-term assignments. He joined FARM STEW when he heard about the mission and realized it was exactly what he had dreamed of starting himself. A church elder and Stewardship Seminar leader, he works in finance.

Brooke Sadler has a big heart, and he extends it to many both at home and abroad. He and his wife Pat currently live in Greenville, TN where they own and operate a vacation cabin rental business and a small organic farm. He has tremendous international experience and loves to lead efforts that have a significant positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children especially. That is what drew him to FARM STEW. He lived in Asia for more than a decade where he served as Principal of Lakpahana in Sri Lanka for 8 years before moving to Pakistan as Principal of Pakistan Adventist College. During his tenure at Lakpahana the school grew from 100 to 450 students, was upgraded to an accredited Junior College, had more than 10 successful industries and was debt free. Hundreds of Buddhist orphans were provided a quality education and home life as a result of his work including 5 he and his wife Pat adopted and 40 more that they placed with families. After leaving Pakistan, Brooke changed careers and became a non-profit fundraiser. After 15 years as President of Florida Hospital Foundation, Brooke started his own consulting firm in 1995 that has consulted with more than 100 clients around the world. FARM STEW International is blessed to have him serve as our Board Chairperson.

Betty Musiro, one of 13 kids, lost her father at the age of 8. Her mother had very little money and from that childhood suffering, becoming a mother herself while still a girl, Betty acquired the strength of a true African woman. As a young mother, who had to drop out of school young, she committed her life to her three daughter’s education. Through the timber business she financed their education and later returned for her own. Studying journalism, she applied her skills in radio broadcasting at Maranatha Radio as a volunteer health and development educator. Through the power of enterprise and prayer, she gained a property of her own on which she is slowly but steadily building a home and a working farm. She joined FARM STEW in 2017 and quickly revealed her leadership skills and was asked to serve as the FARM STEW Uganda Vice President. She graciously accepted the role and is leading the Jinja Team.

Edward Kaweesa doesn’t know his real birthday. He and his elder brother were raised by a single mom, a tailor, who had moved to Kenya, although he is a Ugandan. He attended Karura SDA Primary School. His mother died when he was 11 and his father, whom he saw only three times in his is life, passed away when he was 12. He worked his way though secondary school by missing two days a week earning his school fees and attending the other three days. After graduation, he began working as an internet café attendant while studying at the Busoga University. He acquired an Associates Degree in Information Technology. He learned many lessons on faithfulness to God during his studies and also learned to never despise any small job. All things can be done for God’s glory. Edward serves as the President of FARM STEW Uganda.

Robert Lubega is the person who made Joy realize FARM STEW was possible. He was an Agricultural Extension agent for the local farmers cooperative I was assigned to while I was volunteering for USAID's Farmer to Farmer Program. He was serving as my translator while I conducted hands-on nutrition and cooking classes, featuring soy and vegetables and using the Bible as our primary text. But he was SO much more!! As I began to say less and he led more of the class, the community response was tremendously positive. Robert learned so quickly and soon was teaching me relevant facts about agronomy! He was particularly thrilled with the fact that, except for information that was practical and immediately applicable, we were bringing in nothing from outside the village. His facilitation made me realize that local leaders could conduct classes in their local language and in so doing capture the attention and the heart of class participants. I am thankful that Robert and all four of the original FARM STEW Uganda team members are still carrying on the vision! ‍ Here him here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e03Dbt7yTI&t=3s
