FARM STEW is guided by five core values.
RURAL FAMILY FOCUS
Globally, the most vulnerable families are in rural villages and they are farming to survive. The most vulnerable of these lives are in their first 1,000 days, where they can be found in the womb, on their mother's back - and at home or in the field. No program or service will reach them unless it reaches their parents first. Reaching them is our top priority.
We are interested in building the capacity of small-holder farmers and communities to take initiative in addressing their own shared challenges related to public health practices in nutrition, sustainable agriculture, water, sanitation and enterprise.
We aim at providing simple, domestically focused strategies that help small-holder farm communities to develop solutions that improve their farming methods, public health practices and shared challenges they face in their lives and systems.
HONORING ANCIENT WISDOM
In everything FARM STEW promotes we first seek the ancient path. We encourage communities to ask, was there wisdom in the way our ancestors did these things, is there wisdom in the bible or wisdom in nature that we can learn from? Whenever possible we connect innovation the ancient ways.
We hold ourselves, as Christians, to a very high level of personal and corporate integrity. We create space to honor community values, while encouraging change that promotes community development and introducing a loving Savior and a holy God.
