Chilyangwa

Chilyangwa Village, home to around 660 people, faces major challenges that affect both daily life and long-term development. Access to water is a serious problem, as the community has no borehole and relies on distant sources. The nearest health post is about 15 kilometers away, and the closest school is 12 kilometers away thereby making access to healthcare and education extremely difficult, especially for children and the elderly. Most residents depend on subsistence farming, mainly growing maize, which provides little income beyond what families consume. This limited livelihood makes it hard for people to meet basic needs or improve their living conditions. However, change is beginning to take root. Through FARM STEW activities, community members have gained practical knowledge on improved farming techniques and are now able to achieve better crop yields. Beyond agriculture, there has also been spiritual and social transformation. Many who previously attended different churches have now joined together under one fellowship. FARM STEW members even meet two hours before regular gatherings for Bible study and spiritual discussions, which is something they never used to do before. This combination of improved farming practices and growing unity has started to strengthen both the physical and spiritual wellbeing of the Chilyangwa community, offering hope for a more self-sufficient and connected future.
