Burundi: Where Hunger Meets Hope

Joy Kauffman, MPH

Life in Burundi, is brutally hard. Inflation has wiped out the value of money. See what happened here:

Fuel and electricity are scarce. Hillsides are stripped bare.

Fishing is nearly gone. Most families survive on cassava, a food that fills the belly but starves the body of protein and vitamins. The result is heartbreaking: thin arms, dull hair, tired eyes, and children wrapped in red on a malnutrition tape.

This year, something changed. Burundi discovered FARM STEW. Ten local trainers began teaching practical skills that restore dignity and health: rainbow gardens, clean cookstoves, enriched porridge, soy milk, sanitation, and God-given hope!

In 30 communities, the stories are unmistakable:

• Gardens grown in rocky soil.

• Homes transformed with simple hygiene.

• Families eating better, breathing cleaner air, and walking in faith.

The work has only begun. Thousands still wait for help, still stand in gas lines through the night, and still pray for enough food to make it through the week. You can change a family’s story.

For $37 a month, you can train a new household each year with the skills they need to thrive.Join the movement at https://www.farmstew.org/give
