Mwenewenya is a rural community for Chitipa District that is located in the Northern Region ofMalawi where most households rely on subsistence farming to meet their daily needs. The community faces challenges such as limited access to clean water, health care, and educational facilities. Nevertheless, residents demonstrate resilience and a strong sense of cooperation, supporting one another through communal activities and shared farming practices. Mwenewenya is specifically known for its very poor sandy soils that make cropping a very big challenge by the members of this community. One has to invest more in the soils in order to harvest enough food for the household which becomes a challenge for many households. Additionally, Mwenewenya area receives very erratic rainfall and this compromises the efforts the community members may invest in their farming.
