Nsangula

Nsangula is a rural community in Zambezi district in the Northwestern Region of Zambia.It has a population of approximately 1500 people.It is about 25 km from Zambezi district which is urban rural.There is only one primary school running from grade 1 to 7 with only three teachers. Illiteracy levels are very high and early marriages are prevalent.The locals survive by growing maize and cassava and the yields are very poor due to lack of fertilizer and poor farming methods, as such,hunger levels are very high and so is malnutrition. The main source of water is from the seasonal stream which dries up early just a few months after the rains.They dig wells in and along the dry stream to access water.There are also many cases of Bilharzia and diarrhea.The nearest health facility is about 8 km away.
